Topics of Discussion:
1. Minutes from the March 10, 2014 meeting were approved and submitted.
2. Boy Scout projects
Boy Scout Project #1: Noah Hennings
Noah presented his plans for replacing the Cranberry Dam bridge in the Town
Forest. He plans to re-design and install a new bridge that will be 4ft. wide and
16 ft. long. He expects the project to start in the fall. The project was approved
by the committee.
Boy Scout Project #2: Zachary Bourque
Zachary brought a project suggestion for feasibility. He is proposing to build a
bridge/boardwalk in Bare Meadow on the yellow trail where it is marshy. The
committee thinks that it is a viable project and suggested that Zachary go ahead
with planning/design.
3. Boardwalk on Ipswich River
One of the trail projects under consideration is building a boardwalk out to the
Ipswich River from the Greenway trail in the Town Forest and then add a pier on the
water. The pier in the water will require permission from the Army Corp of
Engineers. We may build the boardwalk first, then do the pier later. How can we
fund it? Applying for a grant was discussed. We would need to design it first before
pitching to anyone for funding.
4. Walk Reading Weekend - May 31/June 1
Saturday: Dave is leading a Bird Walk in the morning and will also lead a walk
in Bare Meadow at 1:00pm.
