Topics of Discussion:
Members of the Trails Committee and the Town Forest Committee visited a few sites on the
trails in the Town Forest to discuss some potential projects.
1. Cranberry Dam bridge (Noah Henning's project) - we looked at the bridge and
thought that it might be a good idea to have the new bridge be lower (and shorter).
2. Cranberry Dam trail - the trail on either side of the bridge needs to be fixed to allow
easier access. The trail is strewn with tree roots and is at an angle that makes it
difficult to navigate.
3. Alligator Alley - need boardwalk/bog bridge over muddy area near existing
boardwalk. Maybe a project for the Reading Recreation project leader with a team of
volunteers?
4. Pine Ridge - Brandon Lee's project
5. Overlook Trail - discussed various possible locations for viewing benches
6. Boardwalk/pier to Ipswich River - discussed possible options for boardwalk
The group discussed how to spend the money allocated in the town budget. We think that
fortifying the Cranberry Dam trail on either side of the bridge is a good project but how to
do it and how to bring in the materials was not resolved.
