Acceptance of Minutes from 1/8/2018: -Accepted Elder Services.January. •Report (Admin): Manual records are being maintained for programs not offered due to insufficient staff. The database system does not currently have-the- ability ave the:ability to track waiting lists. Jane Burns will-add special meal wait list counts.and average daily attendance. .Accepted: Financial January Report (Admin): Accepted. MVES Report(Brian Snell): Dan O'Leary was on.vacation last month. The legislative breakfast is being planned for March. 'The Rotary Club donated 600 meals to Mystic Valley Elder Services and 200 to Reading Elder Services (oatmeal breakfasts that feed up, to 6 people). Old:Business: Dementia Friendly Reading Next Steps; The Leadership team is.starting to meet_on the 2"d Wednesday of each month. They are targeting. 2 sectors (business and-one other) and going door to door surveying people; the plan is.to develop a series of action items based on the feedback received. Jolyn Ek will be attending on Wed. Jolyn Ek and Marilyn Shapleigh Volunteered to be called upon to help interview leaders,in the two targeted sectors: Tomorrow the state is holding a regional meeting in Beverly. 25th Anniversary Planning: Jane Burns ran a proposal by the town manager and got his blessing for a June barbeque street party with band (Pleasa.n.t Street.from Middle to:Parker Page 1 Street plus the Center and its.patio). The firefighters:union has been n asked.if they would like.to do the barbequing. The-event will be scheduled for 2 hours on a Sunday and include arts events. -Funding for:food may come from the fire fighters union (they will decide if and -how they would. like to participate at their next meeting on 2/27):. Burbank could fund . ,Music ($650). The Town will cover tables and chairs, staff.time, and custodial time.($144), . . If the firefighters don't fund food; it might cost about $2000.', The Council members agreed that this(was a good plan. Volunteers are needed to take a lead in planning. Joan Coco, Marilyn Shapleigh, and Thomas Procopio said they-would be willing to. help (probably mostly evenings). John Parsons is willing to,go to businesses.for donations. Marilyn Shapleigh is available to participate in:evening planning meetings: Jayne:Burns will reach.out to:a couple of other people she has in mind.who:may be willing to volunteer; she'll send out an email to see who and when they would like to.meet, outlining opportunities to help to plan marketing the event, plan give a ways, help with fund raising, etc. She'll aim for the 1St week in March: Computer Room Update The computers were,purchased and IT installed them on schedule. Jayne Burns notified the Reading Coop that the computers had been installed. She's also asked to see if they will fund it so the: money spent out of Council funds could be redirected for the rest of the initial project.(e.g., the electronic whiteboard). New Business: New Resident Event:. Tuesday, March.20th (5:30-7:00) there will be a new resident. program at the library. Jane Burns will be there and invites others to participate. It could be an opportunity to promote the 25th anniversary. Council members are asked to email Jane Burns if they want-to participate: Volunteer Dinner: Thursday April 19th. Motion to approve $1,400 from Patrons to fund the volunteer dinner by Joan Coco, second by Thomas Procopio.. Approved by all: ..Upcoming Events: Volunteers are needed for March.30 Easter food delivery. Sandy Shaffer;. John Parsons, Joan Coco,:and Margaret Havey volunteered to help deliver meals. The Town Manager is coming to the Center's March 8th lunch and .learn to talk about the override. Adjourned: Motion to adjourn by John Parsons, Second by Brian Snell.
