Call to order: A_quorum of members being present and the meeting having been duly convened at Killam School by the Killam Principal, Sarah Leveque had called the meeting to order at 3:00 and proceeded with business. Review and Acceptance of Minutes: Members reviewed draft'-minutes from the May meeting. There being no further discussion, Ms: Leveque.moved that the minutes for the month be accepted as drafted. Focus Area: Attendance Issues For this meeting, our focus continued to be attendance. More specifically, we talked.about howjwhen'we could get the information-out to parents that this would be an area of focus for the:upcoming 2018=2019 school year. We looked at-an example letter written by Joshua.Eaton Principal, Lisa Marie Ippolito, that she sent out to families at her school. We discussed if we would like to do something similar, what parts of the letter, if any we would change, and what we liked that she included. We liked that she stayed very informative, excluding.any data/charts that could Page is 1 be overwhelming-to.parents. We liked that she.included how.absenteeism impacts all students from K-12. We decided that we should use a lettersimilar to this and that it should be sent over the summer, toward the start of the next school year. Ms. Leveque's presentation at Curriculum.Night will hit on these absentee issues, but she will include more of the data pieces. Adjournment .There being no further business, the School Council adjourned at 4:00 for the final meeting of the.2017-2018 school year.
