Board - Committee - Commission - Council: 2010 JUN I I AM 3' 33 Historical Commission Date: 2018-05-09 Time: 7:00 PM Building: Reading Town Hall Location: Conference Room Address: 16 Lowell Street Session: Open Session Purpose: General Business Version: Final Attendees: Members -Present: Ron Weston (RW) - Chair Sharlene Reynolds Santo (SRS) - Secretary Jonathan Barnes(JEB) - Treasurer Jack Williams (JW) - Member Samantha Couture (SC) - Member Virginia Adams (VA) - Associate Member Members - Not Present: Others,Present: Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Sharlene Reynolds Santo Topics of Discussion: Called to Order at 7:06 pm in the Conference Room. • Preservation Award - Group discussed VA's award ceremony to be held May 16tH • 24 Gould St/Ace Art Building - RW sent copy of minutes to David Traggorth as he had agreed to. • 136 Haven St / Post Mark Square - No new details available • Preservation Assessment Grant w/ IRPL SC attended a meeting earlier today regarding preparation. • Pending Demolitions . o' 79-81 Salem St Nothing new 0 119 Salem St Nothing.new • Potential Demolition 0 24 Grove St - An email-was received today about structure in poor shape house, barn and garage. RW spoke with realtor about the building inspector suggesting that some portions of the building should be demolished. RW stressed that just the house.is on the .inventory and the RHC hopes the original historic house'will be preserved. • Demolition Delay - RW mentioned an article from the Boston Globe regarding the Demolition Delay Bylaw in Swampscott. RHC discussed a summary document RW developed along with discussing future changes to the,bylaw._ Page 1 1 • 40R Design ,Guidelines - UDC is working on updating, this document.regarding 40R projects and .their impact on residential neighborhoods.=JEB and VA have .been attending the recent CPDC meetings and participating in ongoing discussions., JEB will review CPDC's draft document and provide proposed revisions for RHC discussion and.possible submission to CPDC. Group discussed having a :workshop for the RHC to review this topic.. • Reading Public Library Contacts-- SC shared RPL's request for advice regarding where to place a new flag pole and the historic plaque. JW suggested that the RPL consult with their architect. RHC concurred. SC to advise RPL. accordingly. Amy Lannon has suggested that the RHC visit and get a guided tour of the library. There. was interest in doing this. _SC will follow up. WWI and Women in .Reading Display - VA showed and explained her progress. . Several display posters were available as well .as old newspaper articles from..servicemen in combat. She is hoping to set up her display in suitable space in the library. • Minutes - Reviewed minutes from 4/4/18. JEB.moved to accept the minutes as amended. SC-seconded. Vote.5-0.
