I. Call to Order
Chair Robinson reviewed the agenda and called the meeting to order and reviewed
the agenda.
A. New Business
Approval of Superintendent's Recommendation for the Assistant Superintendent
for Learning and Teaching
Chair Robinson thanked the Superintendent and members of the screening
Committee for the work done during this process.
Dr. Doherty shared that there were 37 candidates for the position and the
Screening Committee interviewed 9 applicants. After the interviews, 5
prefinalists were moved forward to meet with the Superintendent and Mrs. Dowd
for a second round of interviews and additional questions from the Screening
Committee. After these interviews, four finalists were moved forward. All four
attended open microphone sessions with staff and community members and a site
visit in district to meet with administrators, directors and teacher leaders.
Dr. Doherty is recommending Christine Kelley as the next Assistant
Superintendent for Learning and Teaching. He reviewed her background saying
she is currently is the Assistant Superintendent in the Pentucket Regional School

District and has a vast amount of experience grades K— 12. She is also a Reading
resident and has been involved with the Reading Education Foundation.
Mrs. Webb moved, seconded by Mrs. Borawski, to approve the
Superintendent's recommendation of Christine Kelley as the next Assistant
Superintendent of Learning and Teaching.
Mrs. Borawski appreciated the thorough and thoughtful process.
Chair Robinson said the open microphone session was helpful in seeing the whole
candidate.
Dr. Vanden Akker asked if Mrs. Wilson was involved in the process. Dr. Doherty
said she was on the screening committee and participated in the site visit with the
elementary principals.
Dr. Snow Dockser also appreciated the thorough and thoughtful process and is
happy with the decision.
Dr. Doherty shared that he received a significant amount of feedback from staff
and community members.
Mr. Boivin feels Mrs. Kelley has experience to meet our needs and asked how this
experience will transition.
Dr. Doherty said Mrs. Kelley had implemented Writer's Workshop and has done
similar work in math. As the principal at the Lynch School in Winchester she was
able to move this school from an underperforming school to a successfully
performing school.
Mrs. Webb is excited and looks forward to the district continuing to move
forward.
The motion carried 6-0.
Mrs. Webb moved, seconded by Mrs. Borawski, to enter into executive
session to conduct strategy with respect to contract negotiations for non-
represented personnel and not to return to open session. The roll call vote
carried 6-0. Mr. Boivin,Dr. Vanden Akker, Mrs.Webb, Dr. Snow Dockser,
Mrs. Borawski and Mr. Robinson.
The meeting adjourned at 6:16 p.m.

Mrs. Webb moved, seconded by Mrs. Borawski, adjourn. The motion
carried 6-0.
