Meeting opened at 6:00pm by G. Fiorente. G. Fiorente shares the Reading :Little League
batting cage proposal. with. the subcommittee. She describes the four locations outlined in
the attached material. She states that is the responsibility of the subcommittee to
recommend to'the recreation committee the best location that would outline with the .
master plan.
The subcommittee looks at each location and discusses pros and cons. The committee
agrees that the location listed as #3 next to Morton Field is too close to neighbors and also
that the location is not centralized for all organizations to use. The subcommittee also has a
..conversation about location #2 which.! nterferes with, the current master plan of a, proposed
multi-purpose court and/or splash pad. The committee agrees that an additional
recreationalcourtor splash pad would be better suited there than the batting cages. They
again agree that the location is not centralized enough. Location #4 has the consensus that
itis a good centralized location but would be a tight fit with the walkways andtherewould
also be a possible interference with the quietness at the tennis courts.
The subcommittee collectively decides to recommend location #1 to the Recreation
Committee as this location is already the existing location and "is centrally located. The
subcommittee also believes this location will not directly affect abutters. G. Fiorente
indicates"thatshe will circle in with parks and measure the proposed extension from the turf .
2 practice field to ensure there is enough room to fit the second cage as well. The BM
subcommittee agrees that this location will be the least intrusive option to the existing BM
Master plan and will be the best fit for all youth organizations and the High -School Athletics.
G. Fiorente says the recommendation will be brought to the recreation -committee for more
discussion and the final decision.. Meeting is adjourned at 6:45pm.
