Subcommittee for Hunt Park Playground Attendees: . Members - Present: Time: 6:00 PM RE 1 VED 01.1 FEB 15 : pM 4:20 Location: Conference Room Session: General Session Adam Chase, Emily Sisson, Frank Driscoll, Carolyn Mertz Members - Not Present: Others Present: Genevieve Fiorente Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Genevieve Fiorente Topics of Discussion: G. Fiorente opens the meeting at 6:OOpm. The subcommittee discusses pros and cons for the playground age range..The committee agreesthatthe playground` should be kept tot specific for ages 2-5., There is only one other tot playground in Town which is located on Bancroft. The subcommittee mentions the gate needing to be fixed down at the park. G. Fiorente will contact Peter Seibold. The subcommittee suggests speaking with engineers . about anything that can be done to improve. drainage. C. Mertz suggests asking DPW to locate barrels in a better area to detract the bees. F. Driscoll asks if the playground will be ADA Compliant with the existing wood chips. After discussion on various equipment and looking through magazines from a playground. vendor, subcommittee agrees on a lar9e playscape with two slides,`one straight and one with a twist. The playscape must have ADA Compliant ground structures. (LeAriving wheel, . telescope, tic tae toe, learning component)._ Committee agrees on swing bay and possibly a small rock climbing feature that allows children to crawl under and climb on side/top. The subcommittee also agrees that the implementation of another firetruck should be a must since the last one was so popular. There were .talks of Having a large freestanding one or three smaller spring models that would feature "a firetruck, police car, and construction truck. There is a brief discussion on the process for possible donations. G. Fiorente says she believes donations can only be done in the scope of the- capital amount which is $45,000. No fundraising efforts .can -be in addition to the amount: without approval from Town Meeting. The subcommittee members ask on possibility of fundraising down the line for other features like picnic benches or half -court basketball. The Subcommittee agrees to make a survey to send out to residents. The following is the timeline that the subcommittee 'comes up.with for the -project. Page 1 1 -Timeline Expectations on Project 1) Subcommittee will attempt to meet every other week (week of 2/6, 2/20, and 3/6) 2)-' Subcommittee will hold public meeting in early March for residents 3) Subcommittee will bring report to Rec-Committee on 2/21 and 3/14- 4) Request for bids to be sent out on 3/20 and to be returned by 4/3. 5) Project to start late April/Early May with completion by end of June. G. Fiorente adjourns meeting at 7:00pm. Page 1 2
