MASS. 1011 APR -U P 1= 361 Location: Conference Room Purpose: Monthly Meeting for March 2016-2017 School Year Attendees: Members - Present: Sarah Leveque Nick Marrangoni Katrina Cole Members - Not Present: Jeanette Vigorito Lucille Kaloyanides Mutz Moise Others Present: Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Katrina Cole Topics of Discussion: The sixth monthly meeting of the J.W. Killam Elementary School was held in the conference room of the Killam Elementary School on March 6, 2017. Call to order: A quorum of members being present and the meeting having been duly convened at Killam School by the Killam Principal, Sarah Leveque had called the meeting to order at 3:00 and proceeded with business. Review and Acceptance of Minutes: Members briefly reviewed draft minutes from the February meeting. There being no further discussion, Sarah Leveque moved that the minutes for the February meeting be accepted as drafted. Katie Cole seconded the motion. The members then voted unanimously to approve the minutes. Vote: Minutes Accepted 3-0-0 New Business: The role and responsibilities of School Council were discussed in efforts to welcome our new member, Nick Marrangoni. Ms. Leveque reviewed the hopes for School Council and shared the Killam School Improvement plan with Mr. Marrangoni. Page 1 1 Mr. Marrangoni shared updates from the budget committee. He shared that ideally, it would be most beneficial for budget parents present at PTO meetings earlier in the process versus Closing achievement gap The Council spoke about Open Circle and the Zones of Regulation. Specifically discussing that there is some confusion for families with the language and jargon. The Council also discussed Killam reflection forms and positive behavioral interventions such as the school -wide tickets. A future discussion about the extrinsic/intrinsic motivation and perception of Reflection Form will take place at the next School Council meeting. Mr. Marrangoni reports that is some instances students are reporting to families about other students receiving reflection forms and that they seem to still have a negative connotation.
