Board - Committee - Commission - Council: Trails Committee 2011 FEB 23 A'�' I Date: 2017-01-09 Time: 7:00 PM Building: Reading Town Hall Location: Berger Room Address: 16 Lowell Street Purpose: General Business Attendees: Members - Present: Tom Gardiner - Chair Dave Williams Will Finch Ed Crowley Jean Jacobs Members - Not Present: John Parsons Others Present: Session: Ginny Blodgett - Walkable Reading Ace Foulds - Walkable Reading Virginia Adams - Walkable Reading Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Jean Jacobs ( Topics of Discussion: The meeting was called to order at 7:09pm. 1. Minutes from the meeting on November 9, 2016 were reviewed and approved. 2. Winter Walk Members of Walkable Reading (WR) were present to discuss plans for the upcoming Winter Walk co-sponsored by WR and the Trails Committee. The Walk will be held Sunday, Jan. 29 at ipm in Bare Meadow. Meet at the cabin. Will, Jean, and Ginny will be walk leaders. If there is snow, there may be cross- country skiers and snowshoers. There will be refreshments in the cabin after the walk. Jean will add information on the Trails Facebook page and Patch. Ace will add it to the WR Facebook page and Ginny will add it to the Chronicle. 3. Walk Reading Weekend WR and Trails discussed possibly changing the date of Walk Reading Weekend to the fall or early May to boost participation. Will will talk to Cons Comm to see if they will have a booth at the Street Faire. If so, maybe we can publicize there. 4. Budget Meeting with Selectmen On Thursday, Jan. 12 the BoS will be discussing FY 2018 budgets that affect the Trails Committee. Tom and Jean volunteered to go to the meeting. Possible projects that we can discuss (if necessary): Xavier/Boyd lot trail, new trails in Kurchian Woods, boardwalk to Ipswich River in Town Forest. 5. New Trail in Town Forest Page 1 1 Will and Kim discovered a newly blazed trail in the Town Forest. It is similar to the Overlook Trail and is northeast from it. It has yellow blazes and goes along the river. No one from Trails nor Town Forest Committees knows who did this. 6. Trails Conference Tom will email conference leader to volunteer our committee as presenters for the fall conference. 7. Kurchian Woods A resident and abutter to the Kurchian Woods sent an email about slippery leaves and trash on the trails. Jean will investigate. 8. Annual Report Dave will take data from Kim and any additional information from the rest of us to create a report. Dave will send it to us for comments before submitting it.
