I. Executive Session
A. Call to Order
Staff Members Present
Patrick A. Schettini, Jr. -Superintendent of Schools
John Doherty, Assistant Superintendent of Schools
Mary DeLai, Director of Human Resource and Finances
Chairperson Robinson called the Executive Session to order at 7:00 p.m.. Roll call order was
taken for all members.
1. Building Project
Ellen Doucette and Scott Dunlap updated the committee on the litigation involving TLT.
2. Negotiation Agreements
Superintendent Schettini explained the role of the Town Manager regarding collective bargaining
agreement negotiations and that the Town Manager votes on collective bargaining agreements.
Superintendent Schettini, Chairperson Robinson, and Committee Member Webb updated the
committee and Mr. Hechenbleikner on tentative negotiation agreements with the Teachers,
Custodians, Educational Assistants, and Secretaries.
Teachers Contract
The committee voted on a motion by Mr. Caruso, seconded by Mrs. Gibbs, to accept the
contract agreement with the Reading Teachers' Association as outlined in the
Superintendent's memorandum to the Reading School Committee dated June 16, 2008 with
the attached contract chances for the years September 1, 2008 through August 31, 2011.
Also, to further move to authorize the Chair to sign the contract on behalf of the
Committee and to handle any gft2i editorial corrections. Roll call vote approved 7-0.

Secretaries Contract
The committee voted on a motion by Mr. Caruso, seconded by Mr. Michaud, to accept the
contract agreement with the Reading Administrative Secretaries Association as outlined in
the Superintendent's memorandum to the School Committee dated June 16, 2008 with the
attached contract changes for the years July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2011. Also, to
further move to authorize the Chair to sign the contract on behalf of the Committee and to
handle anv minor editorial corrections. Roll call vote approval 6-0-1. Mr. Hechenbleikner
abstained.
Para -educators Contract
The committee voted on a motion by Mr. Caruso, seconded by Mr. Michaud, to accept the
contract agreement with the Reading Paraeducators Association as outlined in the
Superintendent's memorandum to the School Committee dated June 16, 2008 with the
attached contract changes for the years July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2011. Also, to
further move to authorize the Chair to sign the contract on behalf of the Committee and to
handle any minor editorial corrections. Roll call vote approval 7-0.
Custodians and Maintenance Contract
The committee voted on a motion by Mr. Caruso, seconded by Mrs. Janowski, to accept the
contract agreement with the Reading Custodial and Maintenance Employee Association as
outlined in the Superintendent's memorandum to the School Committee dated June 16,
2008 with the attached contract changes for the years July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2011.
Also, to further move to authorize the Chair to sign the contract on behalf of the
Committee and to handle any minor editorial corrections. Roll call vote approval 7-0.
II. Adjournment
The committee voted on a motion by Mr. Michaud, seconded by Mrs. Webb, to adjourn
executive to enter into Open Session not to return to executive. Roll call vote 7-0.
