Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Jean Jacobs
Topics of Discussion:
The meeting was called to order at 7:10pm.
1. Add list of possible Boy Scout projects to Trails Facebook page.
2. Boy Scout Project
Harrison Fiscus presented his Eagle project to install a 40 foot long bog bridge in the
Town Forest on the trail near the Ipswich River on 'Great Island". The project is
scheduled for late October or early November. Harrison showed us detailed plans.
The Trails Committee suggested ramping down the bridge on either end. The Trails
Committee approved the project.
3. Minutes from the meeting on August 30, 2016 were reviewed and approved.
4. Kylie Drive Easement
A new home is planned for the lot on which the existing trail easement resides. Kim
drafted a letter on behalf of the Trails Committee expressing our concerns with the
new construction. There is a Conservation Commission hearing which the Trails
Committee should attend to express our concerns in person. The hearing is
Wednesday, Sep. 28.
5. 1260-1264 Main Street
A new street with 5 homes is planned for the lots that are currently located at 1260
and 1264 Main Street. The plan includes a trail easement with 3 parking spots that
would allow access to the Kurchian Woods. The Trails Committee should attend the
hearing so we need to watch for hearing notices.

6. Massachusetts Trail Celebration
There is a Massachusetts trails celebration (instead of the annual Trails Conference).
The event is in Holyoke, MA on Saturday, October 22.
7. Mill Street Bridge renovation
Will talked to DEP (Wilmington) about the renovation being done on the bridge
without getting permits or asking permission for access from the Reading side. DEP
can't do anything. It is up to the Conservation Commission to stop work.
8. Lots north of Mattera
The current plan is to build 2 houses on the land, not a large development that was
originally proposed. The Trails Committee should try to make sure that there is a
buffer between the lot and the Mattera lot.
Next Meeting: Sep. 28 at the Conservation Commission meeting for the Kylie Drive
discussion (7pm in the Selectmen's Meeting room).
The meeting was adjourned at 8:55pm.
