HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988-12-13 Board of Selectmen Executive Session Minutes 9 Board of Selectmen Executive Session Minutes December 13, 1988 The meeting convened at 7:10 p.m. in the Employee's Lounge, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts. Present were Chairman Nigro, Vice-Chairman Graham, Secretary Mollie Ziegler, Selectmen Russell , Selectmen Landers , and Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner. Members of the Police Association present were Rick Nelson, Joe Veno, Pat Iapicca, Peter O'Brien, Jim Cormier, Walter Franklin, Jeffrey Fisher, and Chief Marchand. Mr. Fisher told the- Board that the main concern of the Police Bargaining Unit is retroactivity. Mr. Fisher would like an in- stant 1 year settlement of the FY89 contract. Mr. Fisher told the board that their is a problem in Reading with the constant turnover of patrolman, and that the turnover reflects management problems. The patrolman are tired of being in the arrears and that it should not take one year to bargain a contract. Mr. Fisher said that their should be "hazardous duty" and "fire arms qualification pay". _ -- G Resepctfully submitted: Secretary
