Home My WebLink About1990-07-10 Board of Selectmen Executive Session Minutes Minutes of the Board of Selectmen Executive Session July 10, 1990 Members present were Chairman Graham, Secretary Hines, Selectmen Hoyt and Nigro, and Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner. The Town Manager reviewed the letter from Bear Hill Realty Trust. The Board directed the Town Manager to respond to Bear Hill Realty Trust indicating that the offer is unacceptable, and they have thirty days to respond with a signed purchase and sales agreement in accordance with their initial proposal. Failure to do so will be deemed to be their withdrawal of their proposal. The Board agreed that we should not try to go out and sell the property again at this point. The Town Manager reviewed the Homart situation. The Town Manager suggested that a member of the Board of Selectmen should go with the Town Manager to a meeting with Homart and express the concern about getting the property closed in a timely manner while there is still the ability to do a phased landfill closure and while the Town permits are still in effect. The Town Manager reviewed the status of the General Electric situation. Tony Fletcher's memo regarding a potential settlement with General Electric was discussed. The Board directed the Town Manager to pursue a settlement with special attention to preserv- ing future Town rights if the level of pollution or other cir- cumstances change. With regard to labor relations, the Board of Selectmen, the Fin- Com, and the School Committee will have a joint meeting in execu- tive session to develop strategy for labor negotiations. On motion by Hoyt, seconded by Nigro, the minutes of 3/27, 5/15, 5/22, and 6/19/90 were approved as submitted by a vote of 4-0-0. The minutes of 3/13 will be reviewed at a later date. On motion by Nigro, seconded by Hoyt, the Board voted to come out of execu- tive session. With all four members voting in the affirmative, the motion was carried.
