Executive Session
July 22, 1993
The meeting was convened at 9:32 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting
Room, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, MA. Present were Chairman
George Hines, Vice Chairman Eugene Nigro, Secretary Sally Hoyt,
Selectmen Bill Burditt and Dan Ensminger, Town Manager Peter I.
Hechenbleikner.
The Board reviewed the Town Manager's memo and suggested nego-
tiating strategies. On motion by Ensminger seconded by Nigro the
Board instructed the Town Manager to commence discussion with
Longwood Management pursuant to the guidelines in the memo of
July 22, 1993 as amended by a vote of 5-0'-0.
The Town Manager indicated that it looks like we have an agree-
ment on Bear Hill and he would try to have it for them for the
next Board of Selectmen meeting. The Board directed the Town
Manager to release whatever information could be released in the
meantime.
George Hines reviewed the meeting that he had with South Street
residents. Much of the time was spent on the issue of utility
pole relocation. They have asked that we do an evaluation, and
the Town Manager indicated what the problems in terms of workload
for the Engineering Division would be. Hines indicated that he
suggested to the residents that if it was found there would be no
significant impact on the relocation of utility poles, then the
residents won't insist on reopening the process. If there is
substantial impact then we might agree to reopen the process.
He also got agreement from the group that cut through traffic is
a problem no matter whether the road is approved. The Town
Manager is directed to determine what the cost of burying the
cable on South Street would be.
On motion by Ensminger seconded by Burditt the Board voted to ad-
journ the meeting at 10:35 p.m. All five members present voted
in the affirmative and the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
