Executive Session
April 7, 1998
The meeting was convened at 7:01 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, 16 Lowell Street,
Reading, Massachusetts. Present were Vice Chairman Bruce MacDonald, Secretary Sally Hoyt,
Selectmen George Hines and Matthew Nestor, Town Counsel H Theodore Cohen, Town
Manager Peter I. Hechenbleikner.
Litigation —Homart
Town Counsel updated the Board on the Homart litigation.
On motion by Hines seconded by Hoyt, the Board of Selectmen authorized Town Counsel H
Theodore Cohen to accept no less than $80,000 in the settlement with Homart. On a roll call
vote, all four members voted in the affirmative.
Landfill
It was noted that two responses were received to the RFP. Procedure was not followed by the
developers. Each made widely different changes to the bids. The Town is in danger of being
challenged. Town Counsel recommended rejecting both bids and going back out to bid again.
On motion by Hines seconded by Hoyt, the Board voted to adjourn the Executive Session of
April 7, 1998 at 7:30 p.m. On a roll call vote, all four members voted in the affirmative and the
meeting was adjourned.
