Executive Session
December 12,2000
The Executive Session convened at 11:06 p.m. in the Conference Room, 16 Lowell Street,
Reading, Massachusetts. Present were Chairman Matthew Nestor, Vice Chairman George
Hines, Secretary Camille Anthony, Selectmen Matthew. Cummings and Sally Hoyt, Town
Manager Peter Hechenbleikner, Assistant Town Manager Russell Dean and Paula Schena.
Sale of Real Estate
Reading Landfill - The Town Manager noted that 128 Sales is interested in purchasing part of the
landfill to expand their site. They are interested in the area where the restaurant will be located.
If Dickinson sells to 128 Sales, then the restaurant would go in the first level of the office
building. The Town Manager noted that 128 Sales owns property that was part of the original
landfill and if there is trash in it, then the Town is responsible for closing it.
Dickinson is also having a difficult time getting a restaurant because of our pouring policy. The
consensus of the Board was to consider re-evaluating the pouring policy.
The Town Manager noted that Dickinson indicated that he cannot build the parking garage if he
doesn't build the office building. He is willing to do the underground pad for the office building
and garage, and then sign the Deed over to the Town if he cannot find a tenant.
On motion by Hines seconded by Cummings, the Board of Selectmen voted to adjourn their
Executive Session Meeting of December 12, 2000 at 11:20 p.m. On a roll call vote, all five
members voted in the affirmative and the meeting was adjourned.
