Executive Session
-- August 13, 2002
The meeting convened at 7:35 p.m. in the Conference Room, 16 Lowell Street, Reading,
Massachusetts. Present were Vice Chairman Matthew Cummings, Selectmen
George Hines and Gail Wood, Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner, Town Counsel
Yvonne Gonzalez and Joan Langsam, Attorney Brad Latham.
Sale of Real Estate- Landfill
Town Counsel Yvonne Gonzalez reviewed the status of the proposed two amendments to
the Purchase and Sales Agreement with Dickinson for the sale of the landfill site.
The Board had concerns about two paragraphs, one in each amendment. Attorney Brad
Latham joined the meeting and the Town Manager explained the Board's concerns to
him. Town Counsel Yvonne Gonzalez will e-mail proposed changes in language to
Attorney Latham tonight, and we would hope to have this back before the Board of
Selectmen for final approval at their special meeting on August 21S`
Litigation - Fraen
_ Town Counsel Joan Langsam brought the Board up to date on the Fraen project. Fraen
j has agreed to the payment of$25,000 by December 13t". Open issues remain, third party
indemnification, payment of attorney's fees, and mitigation of dust from the Public
Works' site. We are working to get these matters resolved.
Approval of Minutes
On motion by Wood seconded by Hines, the Board approved the Executive Session
minutes of July 23, 2002 on a roll call vote with all three members voting in the
affirmative.
On motion by Wood seconded by Hines, the Board of Selectmen voted to adjourn
their Executive Session Meeting of August 13, 2002 at 8:30 p.m. on a roll call vote
with all three members voting in the affirmative and the meeting was adjourned.
