Topics of Discussion:
The second monthly meeting of the J.W. Killam Elementary School was held in the
conference room of the Killam Elementary School on December 5, 2016.
Call to order:
A quorum of members being present and the meeting having been duly convened at Killam
School by the Killam Principal, Sarah Leveque had called the meeting to order at 3:00 and
proceeded with business.
Review and Acceptance of Minutes:
Members reviewed draft minutes from the November 7th meeting.
There being no further discussion, Katie Cole moved that the minutes for the November 7th
meeting be accepted as drafted. Sarah Leveque seconded the motion. The members then
voted unanimously to approve the minutes.
Vote: Minutes Accepted 3-0-0
New Business: Ms. Leveque stated that the school improvement plan has been approved.
Ms. Leveque shared that there are a few students who will be transitioning after winter
break. There is a proposed draft of a budget but it is in the infancy stage. The school
budget is on- going. Dr. Doherty has reached out to parents who are interested in being a
budget parent. They would go to school committee meetings and report back to Ms.
Leveque. Discussions are underway within the District Leadership Team regarding budget.

Other:
There were no revisions to the Parent Handbook at this time. Traffic changes are forth
coming. Staff assignments/responsibilities are to be determined. In reference to class size,
there was no change since last meeting. Additionally, Ms. Leveque shared that she is
looking at all spaces in the building that may be used for small group instruction.
Conversation around implementing Service Squad/Student Council will be discussed at the
next meeting on January 9, 2017.
Adjournment
There being -no further business, the School Council adjourned at 4:00 with plans to
reconvene on January 9, 2016 at 3:00 pm.
