Board - Committee - Commission - Council: Fall Street Faire Committee ?Bib OCT I l A 155 Date: 2016-07-19 Time: 7:00 PM Building: Reading Town Hall Location: Conference Room Address: 16 Lowell Street Purpose: Preparation for Fall Street Faire Session: General Session Attendees: Members - Present: Denise Eaton,Brian Snell(remotely), Leslie Leahy, Sheila Mulroy, Kristen Bonazoli, Tom O'Connor Members - Not Present: Mike Doyon, Bob Beckman, Lisa Egan, Steve Goldy, Alison Ullman Others Present: John Feudo, Genevieve Fiorente, James Bonazoli Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Genevieve Fiorente Topics of Discussion: Meeting is called to order by S. Mulroy at 7:12pm. Rall call is done by the committee to identify themselves. Vice Chair, S. Mulroy will be acting chair for the evening. S. Mulroy mentions on the registration page about changing the box that asks if the vendor is serving food to reflect both food and drink. K. Bonazoli gives an update on the volunteers. She says the link is up and plans to contact Linda Engelson to do an email blast to students. She asks B. Snell what extra volunteers he may need for the 9/11 tribute. B. Snell asks K. Bonazoli if she could add a link on her volunteer page for veterans and boy/girl scouts. K. Bonazoli answers yes. J. Feudo asks B. Snell if he will be prepared with details on what is needed from the DPW and Police since safety officer, Dave Savio and DPW Highway supervisor, George Strazzere will be attending next meeting. B. Snell says yes. S. Mulroy asks if the tribute should start at 11:30 and if health inspections should be moved to an earlier time than normal. There is a discussion on when to start the parade down Haven for the 9/11 Tribute. D. Eaton asks where the parade is starting. B. Snell says Town Hall/Woburn street then coming through cobblestone then down Haven. ]. Bonazoli says when he helped to coordinate the 9/11 tribute, they started at the High School then did an automobile parade to the Town Hall where there were speakers, bagpipers, and releasing of Doves. He also said there was a closing of the tribute then an opening to the Fall Street Faire. The committee agrees that this should be done. J. Bonazoll offers to help organize the tribute. K. Stasiak mentions having an area blocked off around the stage on lower Haven for the parade performers to stand. S. Mulroy states that someone should contact Seth Moulton. J. Bonzali offers to help coordinate the tribute. J. Bonazoli, K. Bonazoli, S. Goldy, and B. Snell will collaborate on tribute. J. Bonazoli asks if churches are doing anything that Page I 1 morning as far as services. The committee agrees to circle in with churches to find out what accommodations need to be made. D. Eaton gives an update on the Children's Area. She says she has already submitted an order to Oriental Trading Company for supplies. She asks J. Feudo about popcorn which J. Feudo says he can order. She mentions she still needs to apply for a permit for food and water. aim Dwyer will also be sponsoring the area again. J. Feudo states that he will invite Perfect Parties to the next meeting to talk about entertainment and the selling of tickets for games and inflatables. L. Leahy gives an update on publicity and marketing. She passes around the newspaper with the press release for the event. She says that she has been putting posters all over town and mentions that the Reading Butcher Shoppe would like to do some form of extra entertainment. B. Snell answers that he will follow up with them. S. Mulroy gives an update on registration. She says the Good Shepard In Reading just received a new Pastor and they do not think they can coordinate the event monetarily. They asked for a refund. S, Mulroy makes a motion to refund the Good Shepard's registration fee. L. Leahy seconds. A roll call is made since B. Snell is remote on his phone. L. Leahy, D. Eaton, S. Mulroy, and B. Snell all verbally agree to the motion. The motion passes 3-0 (4-0 if B. Snell's remote vote is added). S. Mulroy goes on to mention that Lahey Clinic was interested In sponsoring something at the Fall Street Faire. S. Mulroy and K. Stasiak talked offline and thought sponsoring the Irish American Police and Drums would be good. S. Mulroy and K. Stasiak say they will work together to coordinate what will be on the banner. S. Mulroy also says that the Moms of Reading would like to sell products and do a raffle. She asks J. Feudo if they can get a permit for this. J. Feudo answers yes and that the Town Clerk has final say. S. Mulroy tells J. Feudo that Health requested 2 tables, 2 tents, and two chairs. J. Feudo answers that he will take care of all Town Organizations. S. Mulroy asks if Wingate Reading registered and D. Eaton answers that she will check. S. Mulroy asks if anyone has a problem with Covanta (sp) paying by check for their registration fee. The committee all agrees that is fine. S. Mulroy mentions a couple other sponsorship opportunities and possible new vendors who have expressed interest in registering. She says there are about 105 vendors to date. B. Snell gives an entertainment update and says he put an email out through yahoo for performers. He also secured the stage for lower Haven. S. Mulroy asks T. O'Connor about the walkie talkies. T. O'Connor says the committee could use them again this year. K. Stasiak says D. Savio will present his plan at the next meeting. B. Snell makes a motion to adjourn at 8:25pm. S. Mulroy seconds. There is a roll call taken: D. Eaton, S. Mulroy, L. Leahy, and B. Snell all agree to adjourn the meeting by a vote of 4-0-0. Page 1 2
