Topics of Discussion:
The second monthly meeting of the J.W. Killam Elementary School was held in the
conference room of the Killam Elementary School on November 7, 2016.
Call to order:
A quorum of members being present and the meeting having been duly convened at Killam
School by the Klllam.Principal, Sarah Leveque had called the meeting to order at 3:00 and
proceeded with business.
Review and Acceptance of Minutes:
Members reviewed draft minutes from the October 3rd meeting.
There being no further discussion, Jeanette Vigorito moved that the minutes for the October
P meeting be accepted as drafted. Katie Cole seconded the motion. The members then
voted unanimously to approve the minutes.
Vote: Minutes Accepted 5-0-0
New Business: Ms. Leveque reviewed a draft of school improvement plan, gave an update
on school building budget, and an update on any revisions/updates to Parent Handbook.
Ms. Leveque reviewed the School Improvement Plan (SIP). She stated that the plan is a 1 -
year plan that aligns with the district goal. The district is continuing its focus on closing the
achievement gap, instructional practices in math, instructional practices in literacy, and

social -emotional learning. Goal 1 of the Killam SIP will address Tier 1 instruction and
differentiated learning. Goal 2 will address engaging all learners. In reviewing the draft,
Mrs. Nigorito suggested further clarifying the date and status column.
Budget: Ms. Leveque shared that the 17-18 school year budget will be reviewed at •
upcoming school committee meetings. Budget parents are yet to be determined. Budget
parent search information was shared via Ms. Leveque's newsletter on the school's web site.
Other:
There were no revisions to the Parent Handbook at this time_
In reference to class size, there was no change since last meeting. Additionally, Ms.
Leveque shared that she is looking at all spaces in the building that may be used for small
group instruction.
Adjournment
There being no further business, the SchoolCounciladjourned at 4:00 with plans to
reconvene on December 5, 2016 at 3:00 pm.
