BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING
EXECUTIVE SESSION
AUGUST 10, 2010

7a) Move that the Board of Selectmen approve the contract between the
Reading Firefighters Association and the Town of Reading effective
July 1, 2010, and expiring June 30, 2012, and the Board of Selectmen
authorizes the Town Manager to sign the contract on the Town's behalf
Move that the Board of Selectmen approve the contract between the

authorizes the Town Manager to sign the- contract on the Town's behalf
7b) Move that the Board of Selectmen approve the Executive. Session
minutes of June 22, 2010 as amended.

Town of Reading and Firefighters
CONTRACT ONE (TWO YEARS) —July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2012.
• July 1, 2010 -COLA. 0% and no step increases
• July 1, 2011 -COLA 2% and step increases on 7 -1 -11
Jan. 1, 2012 - EMS stipends increase 0.5%
• Fifth week of vacation at 20 years instead of being phased in during years 20
through 24.
• Up to four 24 -hour vacation periods may be taken in hourly increment. Previously
it was two 24 -hour periods.
• Step movement for new hires* and promotions will transition to. being on July 1st of
each year instead of the anniversary date of the hire or promotion.
• Educational Incentive — Nursing degree program and programs related to the fire
service as approved by the Chief were added to the educational incentive.
• Clothing Allowance increased from $600 to $625 in FY12.
• Compensation for working out of grade wi11 be paid if an employee works for
four or more hours at the higher classification. Previously an employee had to
work one (1) shift.
• Emergency Medical Services —This section was rewritten to remove all
references to the start up phase of the Advanced Life Support program.
CONTRACT TWO (TWO YEARS) — July 1, 2012 through June 30,201-4
• July 1, 2012 - COLA 2% and step increases on 7 -1 -12
Jan. 1, 2013 — COLA 1.5%
• July 1, 2013 - COLA 2% and step increases on 7 -1 -13
Jan. 1, 2014 - COLA 1.5% .
Jan. 1, 2014 — EMS stipends increase 0,5%
• Clothing Allowance increased to $650 in FYI and $675 in FY14.
