Fall Street Faire Committee 1016 OCT I l A 1831 Date: 2016-08-16 Time: 7:00 PM Building: Reading Police Station Location: Conference Room Address: 16 Lowell Street Purpose: Preparation for Fall Street Faire Session: General Session Attendees: Members - Present: Denise Eaton, Brian Snell, Sheila Mulroy, Kristen Bonazoli, Lisa Egan, Alison Ullman, Leslie Leahy Members - Not Present: Mike Doyon, Bob Beckman, Steve Goldy Others Present: John Feudo, Genevieve Fiorente, Officer Kristen Stasiak, Deputy Chief David Clark, Bobby from Perfect Parties Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Genevieve Fiorente Topics of Discussion: Meeting is called to order by B. Snell at 7:05pm. B. Snell starts with giving an update on the 9/11 ceremony and parade. D. Clark says he will speak on the Haven Street stage after the parade and states that Sargent McKenna will be coordinating the parade portion. He explains the procession with Honor Guard and Drum and Pipe Band. B. Snell says he will follow up on the risers for the stage on Haven for the Reading Community Singers. D. Clark says he will manage the stage with B. Snell down on Haven. B. Snell mentions that he has about 4-5 people speaking at the end of the parade for about 2-3 minutes. B. Beckman indicates that the Reading Civic Concert Band will perform the National Anthem in front of the Woburn Street stage to kick off the parade. There is a discussion on where to place the banner in the parade for Winchester/Lahey sponsorship for the bugles. There is also discussion on the Fire Department participating in the parade. D. Clark says he will reach out to Fire Department. Bobby from Perfect Parties gives an update on the entertainment for the day of the faire. J. Feudo asks committee if they have any questions or concerns from last year for Bobby. B. Snell mentions that the large inflatable by Haven Street Stage was distracting and loud. The committee agrees but still want something eye catching from the top of Haven. Bobby suggests the 25ft Rock Climbing wall and the committee likes that Idea. There Is also discussion on moving the stage at an angle and at the end of the conversation, it is decided that the change would be made. Bobby continues to talk about a couple new attractions he and J. Feudo talked about bringing such as the inflatable human hungry hippo and the leaps and bounds obstacle course that is similar to the show wipeout and American Gymja Warrior. He says there will be the 3 ticket booths again. D. Eaton says that she and the volunteers will man the tickets at the Children's Area. She also adds that she will need a lot more one dollar bills than last year to make change and an ample amount of tickets. Bobby answers that that will be no problem. D. Eaton also asks Bobby about the inflatables that were in the Children's Area Page I 1 from last year and if they will be there again. She wants to know if the ice cream truck can come back to the Children's Area as well. Bobby answers that same inflatables will be coming back and he is willing to try the ice cream truck down there. S. Mulroy brings up a point about the inflatables being too close to benches last year and for committee and Perfect Parties to be aware of that. J. Feudo asks the committee what they think about getting a Fried Dough Vendor down at the Faire. A brief discussion is held on where to put the truck and the committee agrees that it would be a great addition. J. Feudo gives an update on Bubble Soccer that RCN would like to sponsor and says that it can be done in an inflatable arena. He suggests putting it next to the car show. A long conversation takes place about this entertainment piece and about charging vs. not charging. J. Feudo says he will gather more information and report back to the committee. A committee member asks Bobby how many inflatables will be at the event and Bobby responds about 12. B. Beckman mentions that the post office has still not sold and the committee will be able to use the space. He adds that the post master general has changed and B. Snell says he will confirm parking lot usage. K. Bonazoli gives a volunteer update. She says she has contacted the boy scouts and girl smuts and has not received a response. K. Bonazoli also reached out to Linda Engleson again who will send out blast to HS students and Honor Society. K. Bonazoli states that she has less volunteers at this time than last year. She will send the sign-up genius link to G. Fiorente and A. Ullman to post on social media. D. Eaton gives an update on Children's Area. She says she is in good shape. J. Feudo says the popcorn came in. S. Mulroy mentions that she spoke with Montessori and they will sponsor the face painting area again. S.'Mulroy gives an update on Home Depot and that she spoke with the contact who indicated they have very low resources this year. S. Mulroy left a message to get a final yes or no so she can potentially reach out to Lowe's instead. She said she did not want to do this until Home Depot got back to her. L. Leahy gives a marketing update. She says all posters are up around town and asked about the Fall Street Faire Town Common signs. J. Feudo said he will look Into this. S. Mulroy says she will contact Reading Anima Clinic. B. Beckman and B. Snell say that they are looking good for the performances on the stages D. Eaton asks committee if they would like to do the liquid chalk. The committee agrees to go back to the regular sidewalk chalk from years prior. K. Stasiak says there are no updated plans since D. Savlo is on vacation but once the plan is updated, he will be back in with a final presentation. S. Mulroy asks about telling vendors to come in earlier. The committee agrees that this would be a good Idea. A. Ullman says she will bring in her communication with vendors from last year so the committee can adjust accordingly. J. Feudo says there will be another meeting next Tuesday, August 2P. S. Mulroy makes a motion to adjourn at 9:04pm. B. Snell seconds. All are in favor Page 1 2
