Board of Health meeting came to order at 5:35 pm on September 15, 2016 in the Berger
Room of Reading Town Hall.

Minutes of August 24, 2016 were presented. Shurland made motion to accept, seconded
by Costigan. Motion passed 3:0
Monthly Reports
An inspection was performed at Bertuccfs after a customer complained of seeing insects. No
evidence was found at the time of inspection. Their pest management company was called and
provided treatment. McDonald's and Reading Petroleum continue to work on their pest control
issues.
Jordan's is interested in selling fudge and will be submitting a proposal to do so. Starbuck's has
inquired about the use of nitrogen in the cold brew of their coffee. Cold brew is ground coffee
steeped in cool, filtered water, then brewed for about 20 hours. Thirty-nine temporary food
permits were issued for the Fall Street Faire.
MSPCA received a complaint at Bed & Biscuit, 271 Main Street, conducted an inspection on
August 16' and found unsanitary conditions and 101 dogs on the premises that day. The
kennel license issued from the town does not have a capacity limit. The facility was last
inspected in January by Joan Vitale. Future commercial kennel inspections will now be
conducted by Ron Burns, Animal Control Officer in accordance with Chapter 140.
On August 18, mosquitoes in Reading tested positive for West Nile Virus. A press release was
issued, sent to the Chronicle and posted on the website.

DiLauro stated we are still waiting for notification from MI IA regarding a grant for funds to
purchase the trailer to house emergency preparedness equipment. John Fralick has been hired
as the per diem health inspector, working 12 hours per week. He worked the Fall Street Faire.
Mill River Consulting, Gloucester, MA has been contacted to act as a consultant to witness perc
testing at 1503 Main Street. At the present time there is not an evaluation fee for this type of
testing.
The Board reviewed the article on Tobacco, Alcohol and Marijuana for publication.
Open session for topics not reasonably anticipated 48 hours in advance of the meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 6:55 pm.
