HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-05-31 Board of Selectmen Executive Session Minutes Board of Selectmen Meeting Executive Session May 31, 2005 The meeting convened at 10:50 p.m. in the Town Hall Conference Room, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts. Present were Chairman Richard Schubert, Vice Chairman Camille Anthony, Secretary Joseph Duffy, Selectmen James Bonazoli and Ben Tafoya and Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner. Litigation The Town Manager reviewed the issue of litigation at 1375 Main Street regarding payment to the Housing Trust Fund for excess profits. The Board was unanimous in its opinion that we should move forward with this litigation. On motion by Anthony seconded by Tafoya, the Board approved the filing of litigation in the matter of the balance to be paid to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund by the developer at 1375 Main Street. The dispute arises over the issue of the manner of calculation of developer profits. On a roll call vote, all five members voted in the affirmative and the motion was carried. Labor Negotiations The Town Manager reviewed a Worker's Comp settlement between the Town and Wayne Harding, an employee of the Reading Municipal Light Department. On motion by Duffy seconded by Bonazoli, the Board of Selectmen approved a settlement of the Worker's Comp case between the Town of Reading and Wayne Harding for an amount not to exceed $25,000, subject to RMLB approval of the settlement. On a roll call vote, all five members voted in the affirmative and the motion was carried. Selectman Ben Tafoya asked for an update on all litigation legal matters,and the Town Manager will schedule this. The Town Manager indicated that we have a tentative settlement with the Reading Police Patrolmen's Association which includes the elimination of sick leave buyback respectively. This should be coming back to the Board of Selectmen for approval in the next couple of weeks. On motion by Anthony seconded by Duffy, the Board of Selectmen voted to adiourn their Executive Session meeting of May 31, 2005 at 11:15 p.m. on a roll call vote with all five members voting in the affirmative and the meeting was adjourned.
