Executive Session
August 10,2004
For ease of archiving, the order that items appear in these Minutes reflects the order in which
the items appeared on the agenda for that meeting, and are not necessarily the order in which
any item was taken up by the Board.
The Executive Session convened at 9:55 p.m. in the Town Hall Conference Room, 16 Lowell
Street, Reading, Massachusetts. Present were Vice Chairman Camille Anthony, Secretary
Gail Wood, Selectmen Joseph Duffy and George Hines, Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikaer
and Paula Schena.
Litigation
The Town Manager noted that there is a low level of contamination in our wells from AGFA in
Wilmington. Town Counsel has filed a lawsuit because the deadline was on Friday. No action is
required by the Board of Selectmen.
Labor Negotiations
The Town Manager noted that the Superior Officers have ratified their contract. It includes a
7.5% increase over three years. It eliminates the EMT stipend and the defibrillators language is
included in the body of the contract.
A motion by Wood seconded by Hines to approve the Police Superior Officers' contract
effective July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2007 was approved on a roll can vote with all four
members voting;in the affirmative.
A motion by Wood seconded by Hines to adjourn the Executive Session Meeting of August
10, 2004 at 10:15 p.m. was approved on a roll call vote with all four members voting in the
affirmative.
