Present were Chairman George Hines, Vice Chairman Camille Anthony, Secretary Bruce MacDonald, Selectmen Dan Ensminger and Sally Hoyt, Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner. The Town Manager reviewed his memo outlining the status of negotiations to date. The Russells have accepted the Town's offer of $175,000. The Eastern Middlesex Board of Realtors has balked at an offer of$200,000, feeling that the property is probably worth $250,000 - $275,000. The Board agreed that they would not increase the offer to the Board of Realtors and the Town Manager will convey that to them. The Town Manager noted that Mr. Molyneaux had some discussion with the Police Chief relative to the possibility of selling his property. Bruce MacDonald will contact him and see if it is available. MacDonald felt that if the Molyneaux property is available then the Police Station should be expanded on that site. If not, then he would prefer the Union Street site. George Hines felt that the rear of the existing site is best. Among other concerns is that it would not require the disposal of surplus property. Hoyt noted that reuse of the existing building for other purposes may be possible and grants may be available for this purpose. The Board asked that Bruce MacDonald talk to Molyneaux and see if the property is available. They also asked that a matrix be developed on the pros and cons of the different sites, including issues of reuse of the building, zoning, etc. The Town Manager should also explore the possibility of temporary partial relocation of the Police Department if we were to use the Russell property, and the potential availability of jail space in Woburn. On motion by MacDonald seconded by Anthony, the Board voted to adjourn at 9:50 p.m. on a roll call vote with all five members voting in the affirmative. Respectfully submitted, fi "ta r ry f
