HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-12-26 Board of Selectmen Executive Session Minutes Board of Selectmen Meeting Executive Session December 26, 1995 The Executive Session convened at 9:15 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts. Present were Chairman Sally Hoyt, Vice Chairman George Hines, Selectmen Dan Ensminger and Bruce MacDonald, Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner, Special Counsel Peter Epstein, Cable TV Committee members Richard Cohen, Jim Guarente and Mike Longo. Cable TV Renewal The Board discussed the possibility of a one year extension. The major issues outstanding are externalization of $140,000 of capital expenses needed for the studio. Epstein has in other communities previously agreed to 30 day extensions (Peabody). The Board discussed five options: (1) granting a three year extension (2) granting a five to ten year extension (3) granting a thirty day or sixty day extension (4) doing nothing (5) denying the license On motion by Hines seconded by MacDonald, the Board voted to go into Open Session and grant a ninety day renewal of the Cable TV franchise to Continental Cable under the same terms and conditions as the previous agreement, and requests Special Counsel to draw up a ninety day renewal license for signature by the Board of Selectmen prior to 12/29/95. On a roll call vote, all four members present voted in the affirmative and the motion was carried. On motion by Ensminger seconded by MacDonald, the Board voted to adjourn the Executive Session at 9:50 p.m. on a roll call vote with all four members present voting in the affirmative.
