Minutes Minutes of June 15, 2016 were presented. Shurland made motion to accept, seconded by Docktor. Motion passed 2:0 Monthly Reports Only 4 routine food inspections were performed due to still having only one inspector and the number of housing and nuisance complaints received. Five order letters were issued in regard to housing complaints. In addition, 6 routine camp and pool inspections were performed. Ristorante Pavarotti has had a transfer of ownership. Rodent complaints have continued to be received and the department has been working with business and property owners to resolve the issues and provide information on preventative measures. All tobacco violation fines were paid. DiLauro reached out to the public health departments of Wass Lowell and Regis College seeking interest in an internship for the fall semester. The potential internship opportunity will involve a project that helps to support the Board of Health Five Year Strategic Plan and various other public health issues. The Board authorized the health agent to approve the selected candidate. Page I 1 Pierce advised there were 18 communicable diseases reported in June. She met with 4 camp representatives, reviewed policies and procedure for campers, councilors, CORI's, SORI's and immunizations. Over 300 records were reviewed; there was one religious exemption. Incident Command Trainings for IS -100 and IS -700 were completed. Pierce attended public health meeting at Tewksbury State Hospital, HEAT conference (Heroin Education Awareness Task Force) blood pressure clinic, Friends & Family Day and the Men's Health Fair. Friedmann requested the Board review the proposed tobacco regulations to prohibit the sale of flavored tobacco and nicotine products, excluding mint and menthol for further discussion at the next meeting. He noted a local pharmacy sells Nicorette gum and lozenges and questioned if those products are being sold to those under the age of 21. Costigan will research and DiLauro will contact Maureen Buzby, Tobacco Control Coordinator. Friedmann spoke with David Henley, Superintendent of the East Middlesex County Mosquito Control Project and was told at the present time there were no confirmed cases of EEE or West Nile Virus in Reading. Town Manager Bob LeLacheur advised that John Halsey would remain as the Board of Selectmen liaison. Friedmann inquired about the job posting for the 15 hour per diem health inspector and LeLacheur stated that at the present time there was not a hiring freeze in place, he saw no reason why the position could not be posted and to touch base with Jean Delios to proceed with the posting. The Board voiced their frustration regarding public health articles being written and the process involved for their publication. LeLacheur will speak with the Town's ombudsman about expediting the process. The Board discussed a request for private space for the public health nurse to ensure requirements of HIPPA were being met. Open session for topics not reasonably anticipated 48 hours in advance of the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 pm.
