Topics of Discussion:
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm in the Arts and Crafts Room of the Pleasant Street Senior
Center. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
Treasurer's Report was presented. Everything has been paid out, except for the Reading Art
Association grant in the amount of $500. Current balance is $789.04. There was a question about
whether the balance after paying the $500 is all administrative money. Jane will investigate and
report at the next meeting. The Treasurer's report was approved.
Mary Ann passed out a copy of a press release for the local papers and the Town websites regarding
the grants. Nancy will also work on updating our local MCC website. The press release will also be
emailed to our data base of organizations that we compiled, as well as Maureen Knight at the
Community Connection.
There was discussion about the Reception for grantees in May. Donna reserved the Senior Center's
Great Room. Grant recipients for the past 2 years will be invited, as well as past Council members
and our MCC Liaison. We discussed including invitations to Town officials, including the Town Manager,
Treasurer, Clerk, Finance Committee members, State legislators, members of Arts Reading and Matt
Wilson of Creative Arts. Nancy will work on designing something through Evite and we can finalize at
the next meeting. We will need audiovisual equipment for the video and our power point
presentation. Donna found out that administrative money can be used for refreshments for the
reception. We will organize and assign jobs for setting up and getting supplies at the next meeting.
Donna will be away and will miss the April meeting. Nancy will chair.
Upcoming events were discussed. Jane attended the Ivy Chord concert. Delvena Theatre is 4/14/16,
Reading Antiquarian's Fair is 5/14/16, Birch Meadow Author visit 3/9 and 3/10/16 and St. Agnes
Summer Theater Aug 11-13, 2016.
Maryann suggested we inquire about "Read Across America" events in town and offer to participate as
a group in support of reading. This is a nation-wide day of reading in honor of Dr. Seuss on his
birthday, March 2. We will look into it for next year.
Meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm.
