Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Genevieve Fiorente
Topics of Discussion:
A. Chase opens the meeting at 7:05pm. J. Feudo hands out copies of the June meetir
minutes to the committee. K. Kaminer motions to accept the minutes from June. F
Driscoll seconds. All in favor 6 -0.
J. Feudo starts a conversation on new parking restrictions discussed at the last Board
of Selectmen meeting in regard to the Longwood Field that abuts The Residence at
Pearl Street. D. Foley references the projection screen with the aerial view of Pearl
Street and says that you can no longer park on the eastside portion of Pearl street; J.
Feudo adds that it becomes a safety issue with parking on both sides of the street.',
He says that the new restriction would displace about 8 parking spots but that cars
are allowed to park in the dirt lot next to the field. He states that signs will be going
up by police indicating you can park on side streets.
F. Driscoll mentions that there used to be 4 baseball diamonds down there and it
never used to be an issue. K. Kaminer asks about the seasonal use of the field. J.
Feudo answers that it is used in mostly the spring time. He indicates that the Board
of Selectmen would like the committee to revisit the usage on this field. J. Feudo
uses an example of just making the field a practice field only which would only
require approximately 12 cars at a time instead of several for games.
K. Kaminer asks if Residence at Pearl Street would be willing to give up some spot
and if there was availability on Castine. J. Feudo says spots are already limited an
that Castine isn't an option based on a prior conversation with conservation.
The committee further discusses options for the field and possibilities for exploring
the land near the water treatment plant. The committee agrees to invite Reading
United Soccer and neighbors that abut Pearl Street to have a conversation on
Longwood Field next month.
