Minutes of the Meeting of March 24, 1987
The Reading Housing Authority met in regular session on Tuesday, Mar&
24, 1987 at 7:30 P.M. at 22 Frank D. Tanner Drive. Notice of this meeeti
had been properly posted in accordance with the Open Meeting Law.
Chairman Dempster called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. with Ms.
Swain, Mr. Mclsaac, Mr. Westra, and Mr. White in attendance and forming a
quorum. The Executive Director, Ms. Plansky, was also present. There
were approximately ten (10) citizens from Woburn Street area also present
The Chairman gave a brief background regarding the process that the
Housing Authority had taken in meeting and discussing the possible reulse
of the lower school of the St. Agnes' Church /Roman Catholic Archdiocese
of Boston. A question and answer format was presented to each attend ;e
for their review and information, and is herewith attached as part of the
record.
The neighbors in general were in agreement with the proposed
elderly /handicapped reuse, with the possibility of Meal Site and Council n
Aging offices, if required. The Board asked that the neighbors send letters
of support to the Reading Chronicle, Board of Selectmen and /or Town
Meeting members asking for their support of Article 35 on the 1987 Ann al
Town Meeting Warrant.
The Board will be arranging a meeting with the Council on Aging seekin
their support and later this evening will be meeting with the Board of
Selectmen to present this proposal and ask for the Selectmen's support at
Town Meeting.
At 8:30 P.M., the Board thanked the residents for attending the meeting,
asked for their support and continued discussion on matters of other
business before the Board.

Upon a motion duly made by Ms. Swain and seconded by Mr. Mclsaac, the
Board unanimously
VOTED: To authorize the Chairman to sign the amendment to the Annu
Contributions Contract the for HUD Section 8 Program for an additional
five (5) certificates (I -one bedroom; 3 -two bedroom; 1 -3 bedroom), as
approved by HUD on September 30, 1986.
The Chairman then declared said motion carried and said vote in effect.
The Chairman then adjourned the meeting at 8:50 P.M. so that the Board
could meet with the Selectmen to make their presentation on Article 35 on
the 1987 Annual Town Meeting Warrant, which proposes developing
additional 667 (Housing for the Elderly /Handicapped) units of housing.
