The Chairman delcared said vote a tie, and further discussion ensued.
Where it was generally agreed that the Authority would be more closely
volved in the program if D.S.I. were running it for them through their office,
dissenters felt it would be better to initially send a simple letter to the Se
men indicating that the Authority was willing to take over the Section 6 Progr
administration. Many times during discussion of this Program, Mr. Agnew-and t
Selectmen have indicated that they would welcome turning the administration of
this Program over to the Authority, due to the red tape and problems involved.

Therefore, a letter was dictated to Firs. Pierce to be sent to the Select-
men, as stated above, and tentative special meeting dates of August 22nd and
August 29th were set up to decide the next course of action after the Selectmen's
reply.
There being no
further business to come before the meeting and upon a
motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting.
The Chairman `thereupon
declared said meeting adjourned at 9 :30 P.M.

Mr. Philip White, Jr -f Chairman
Reading Housing Authority
97 Prospect St,
Reading, Mass. 01867
Dear Mr. White:
At their regular meeting August 15, 1977 the
Board of Selectmen read and discussed your letter of August
9th concerning the administration of the Section 8 Program.
At that time the Board stated they had never indicated that
t wished the Authority to take over the administration
E ,
they.
of the.Section 8 Program.:: They also stated that they had no
f Abjection if the Authority wished to administer the program
themselves since the only reason the Selectmen had handle
the administration was the Authority felt it was not in a
position to do so at the program's conception. The Board
did, however, express their, concern about having an outside
r...- consultant comPanY h
andle the administration and stated
they would be happy to meet with you and members of the
Authority to discus: the situation if you desire,
Sincerely,
John W. Agn w, Jr.
