MINUTES OF THE REGULAR BOARD MEETING
OF MAY 18, 2000
A regular business meeting of the Reading Housing Authority was held on Thursday, May 18,
2000 at 7:30 P.M. at the Town Hall, 16 Lowell Street in the town of Reading, Massachusetts.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. with Mr. Sweeet, the Chairman, presiding. Also in
attendance were Mr. Kelley and Mr. Allen as well as the Executive Director, , Ms. relative k r.
Greco, the Authority's attorney also was in attendance to present
Comprehensive Permit request before the Zoning Board of Appeals for the 6 unit building
located at 82 Linden Street, Reading.
The Executive Director distributed a copy of the Decision by the Zoning Board of Appeals on
the George Street comprehensive permit for 10 units. The ZBA conditioned the permit on the
developer working with the Reading Housing Authority to designate a plan and sale of the
required affordable units.
The Board met with the Zoning Board of Appeals at 8:45 P.M. and presented their request and
the substantiating documentation for the Comprehensive Permit. There were approximately 20
neighboring Linden Street residents; many of whom spoke against the granting of the permit
based on the issues of density and safety. After the presentation of the facts, the Zoning Board o
Appeals voted unanimously against the granting of the Comprehensive Permit for a 6 unit
dwelling at 82 Linden Street.
Upon a motion duly made by Mr. Allen and seconded by Mr. Kelley, it was unanimously
VOTED: To authorize the Authority's attorney to file an appeal of the decision with the
Housing Appeals Court as soon as the Decision of the Zoning Board of Appeals has been filed.
The Chairman then declared said motion carried and said vote in effect.
There being no further business before the Board, it was unanimously voted to adjourn at 11:05
P.M.
