HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-01-05 Reading Housing Authority MinutesREADING HOUSING AUTHORITY MINUTES OF THE Regular BOARD MEETING January 5 2009 A regular business meeting of the Reading Housing Authority was held on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 7:00 P.M at the office of the Reading Housing Authority the town of Reading, Mass. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. with the Chair, Mary Connors, presiding. Those members present and forming a quorum were Kevin Mulvey, Diane Cohen, Timothy J. Kelley and Karen L. Flammia as well as the Secretary/Executive Director, Lyn Whyte. Minutes Move Tim Second Diane Vote 5-0 09 -039 VOTED: To accept for the record the Minutes of the Regular Business Meeting of November 10, 2008, as presented. Finances Move Tim Second Diane Vote 5-0 09 -040 VOTED: To approve and sign the checkroll/billroll for the period for Accounts Payable Check #1933 -2034 Payroll Summary as presented for November & December, 2008. Section 8 Voucher Program, #3181 -3378 as presented. Finances Move Tim Second Karen Vote 5-0 09 -041 VOTED: To certify receipt of monthly operating statements for all RHA programs for the ' month end October, 2008 and November, 2008 of the current fiscal year. Personnel Matters: - No personnel issues at this time. Report of Proerams: Vacancy Report- Report for the months November and December, 2009 was provided by Mitch Hudzik, Program Coordinator. All units are leased as of December 31, 2008. - Sec 8 Report- RHA leasing is at 124 at year -end. RHA has three additional vouchers issued with expected lease -up in January and February 2009. - Resident Service Coordinator- Current Tannerville Newsletter provided. New Business: - The Board, upon discussion, opted to change the start time of our monthly board meetings to 5:30pm beginning with the February 2009 meeting. The new time will be highlighted when posted at Town Hall. - The draft letter to Town requesting use of the Affordable Housing Trust Fund dollars was discussed at length. The Director and board member, Tim Kelley will continue to improve upon our letter and present a second draft to the Board at our February meeting. ' - Walsh & Associates have completed the FY2008 independent audit. RHA has been unofficially told that it was a clean audit with no audit findings. There will be a delay in submitting the audited report to the federal government as required due to an issue with the online reporting system. No further details regarding this problem are available to authorities or auditors at this time. The Executive Director will keep the Board informed Real Estate Matter: Update Gazebo Circle: Affordable unit at Gazebo Circle has been resold, effective 12/16/08.
