The 14'arra.nt was partially read by the Tow~n Clerk, when on motion of Yenneth C. Latham it was voted to dispense with the further; reading of the T"arrant, except the Constable's return which was then read by the Town Clerk. Article 1. Lhe first action b,y the assembly was the official recognition of the worth of the late Otis B. Ruggles, former selectman and, at the time of his passing, a member of the deleg- ation from ?Drecinct 4. Selectman Latham in a brief talk c'c&rac- terized rTr. Ruggles as ''A glov ing example of a public spirited citizen". In memory of 1.5r. Ruggles the -issembly stood for a feed moments o silent tribute. Article 1. F"electman Yenneth C. Tatham stated that he was bringing the matter to the at- tention of the town meeting members now because they might want to think about it prior to taking official action later. Article 2. On motion of Charles Y.'ilkinson it .<vas voted that the sun of Three =un.dred Severity-five (375) Dollars be appropri- ated by transferring said sum from the unexpended balance in the Old ?age Assistance Account for the repair of the Traffic Signal or Beacon in heading Square and the To7in Accountant be and he here- by is authorized and empowered to transfer said sum to carry out the purpose of this vote. Article 3. Can motion of G. Lawrence 'Roberts it was voted that the -Roard of Selectmen be and they hereby are authorized and em- powered to sell or exchange upon such terns and conditions as they may de"i:erlline, the 1946 "ord cruising car of the ?'olice Depa.rt- ;ent and that the sum of Six Hundred (600) Dollars together n~ith the proceeds from such sale or exchange be appropriated, by trans- ferring said sum from the unexpended b,,a.la.nce in the Old Age Assist- ance Account, for the purchase of a new cruising car for the "police Department and the Tot n Accountant be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to transfer said sum to carry out the purpose of this vote. Article 4. Can motion of Harold 1". Putnam it was voted that the sum of hour Thousand (4000) Dollars be appropriated by tra<ns- ferring said sum from the "surplus Revenue account to the Snow and Ice Account as follows: Two Thousand Two Hundred (2,200) Dollars for `"alaries and One Thousand `,light Hundred (1,800) Dollars for expenses and the Town A.ccounta.nt be and he hereby is authorized and. instructed to transfer said sum to said account. Article 5. Or, motion of Harold $`'t.
