Topics of Discussion: '
The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm.
1. Boy Scout Project
Ian Kastrinos and T J Kelly presented their projects to add a frog bridge in the
Alligator Alley section of the Town Forest. The area is very wet and muddy. There
will be 2 projects. Ian's project will rover the first 35 feet from the existing
boardwalk. He plans to do the project in mid -late June. T J will do the next 35 foot
section sometime in the fall. They presented their engineering drawing to the
committee. The committee unanimously approved the project.
2. Minutes from the meeting on November 18, 2015 were reviewed and approved.
3. Winter Walk
The Winter Walk was held on January 24, 2015 in conjunction with Walkable
Reading. There were about 45 people split into a few different walks. It worked out
well.
4. Trails Conference
The Trails Committee had expressed an interest in participating in the next state-
wide conference but there is nothing scheduled for 2016.
S. Publicity Ideas
Page 1 1
We discussed ways to get more publicity about the trails in Reading. Some ideas:
. Pamphlet about what the Trails Committee does /has done
. Create and post QR codes on the trails that allow smart phone users to link to
trail maps
. Post GoPro videos on various trail walks /hikes
6. Ipswich River Boardwalk
Dave did not hear back from Chuck Tirone (Conservation Administrator) yet. Dave
will call the Army Corps of Engineers to get a contact person for this project.
7. Bare Meadow Projects
We have one remaining project from the approval from Conservation in Bare Meadow
- a bridge on the red trail. Possible project for the Spring. We think we have
enough stock in the cabin to do it.
8. Teen Volunteers - Reading Cares
We don't have anything specific right now. Maybe ask for help on the Bare Meadow
red trail bridge.
9. Kylie Drive
We need a marker for the trailhead. A marker is also needed at Charles Street (near
the cemetery).
10. Walk Reading Weekend
The Trails Committee will co- sponsor with Walkable Reading again. Need dates.
The next meeting of the Trails Committee will be held on Tuesday, March 29.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:18pm.
