Specifically, on page 2, the motion for funding of the Chinese Dinner was made by John Parsons, and the next May COA meeting date is May 2n^. Accepted & approved as corrected. Elder Services March Report (Admin): Presented and accepted Financial March Report (Admin): Presented and accepted. Burbank Discretionary Entertainment Fund - Fiscal year 16 expenditures exceeded the current $2000 approved for expenditures by $16. A motion to approve $16 from Burbank to pay for an additional $16 beyond the $2000 already approved was made by Steve Oston, seconded by John Parsons. All in favor. MVES Report (Brian Snell): There was a legislative breakfast at the end of March to discuss goals for MVES, including raising an income level that would allow more seniors the opportunity to qualify for funds. Last weekend there was a Sweet Charity fund raiser at the Stoneham Theater which raised over $125,000 for the "gap fund ". Page i 1 Old Business: Easter Meal Delivery Review: A few meals were not delivered because the recipients were not available, decided they did not want the meal at the last minute, unexpectedly ended up in the hospital, etc. Overall, however, the 34 holiday meals delivered to seniors at home were greatly appreciated. Selectmen's Meeting - May P: In preparation for the upcoming Selectmen's meeting, Jane Burns prepared and presented preliminary draft slides to the COA, summarizing the 2015 Elder Services Survey results. COA members provided feedback and suggestions. Jane Burns will continue to make edits and revisions prior to the upcoming May 2nd COA special meeting. Events Calendar: • Volunteer Dinner: Scheduled for Thursday night (4/14). 60 people are coming plus dignitaries. Two volunteers will be recognized. Also, the hockey and lacrosse teams will be recognized for their volunteer work shoveling snow for seniors. • Spring Fling: The price of the ticket is proving to be an obstacle to ticket sales. In recognition of the hard work of veterans, Jane Burns suggested offering discounted ($15) tickets to veterans and their guests, to be subsidized by the Council from Burbank or Patrons. A motion to provide this subsidy was made by Kevin Walsh and seconded by John Parsons. After discussion of other options, Kevin Walsh retracted his motion. Brian Snell made a new motion, specifically to subsidize the 1n hundred tickets sold by $5 each from the Burbank fund, reducing the cost of the 1� hundred tickets to $20 /person. The motion was seconded by Jolyn Ek. All voted in favor. New Business: • COA Board Training - May 10"' will be conducted in Stoneham.
