Kaminer calls the meeting to order at 7:04pm. J. Feudo Introduces Jeff Pierce from Reading Youth Baseball. J. Pierce says he would like to go over the improvements made at Morton. J. Pierce presents pictures of improvements for the committee to view. He starts by showing the dugouts that were completed last fall. In addition, he shows the backstop with black Reading Baseball mats and a new scorer's table. J. Pierce explains that he would like to do a dedication at the end of lune and is working on the recognition piece for Newt Morton and Peter Moscariello. J. Pierce presents a picture of a proposed new sign that would feature the two men, along with their pictures, and a list of 30+ donors who have helped with the project. J. Pierce suggests that the current park rules could go on the back of the sign. N. Swain asks about the symbol at the top of the sign. J. Pierce responds that he had a commemorative coin made for the building of the field and that is what is featured on the top of the sign. N. Swain asks about consistency of signs especially at the top of the sign. J. Feudo agrees that this should be standard. The committee briefly discusses the location of the signs and where they would be best fit in the ballpark. They agree that the two signs should be separate and agree that the Town Seal should be on the sign. N. Swain makes a motion to accept the proposed sign with the amendment of the Town Seal at the top and that the rules sign should be in a different location. F. Driscoll seconds. The committee discusses the Town Seal more. J. Pierce says that the coin has two sides and on the other side of the coin the Town Seal is present. N. Swain suggests putting the field side of the coin on the back of the sign. J. Pierce and the committee all think that is a great solution. Page I 1 The committee members vote and all are in favor 7-0. J. Feudo moves on to the Sunday morning permits. He goes through the field scheduling spreadsheets which are available to all league organizers. He presents a current issue with the lacrosse lines and that currently only two fields are lined, one at Parker and one at Stadium. J. Feudo says that on May 1't he is running Into an issue with the amount of games scheduled and that Reading Girls Lacrosse will have already used their one special Sunday morning permit. He also mentions that Reading United Soccer was willing to give up their Sunday morning special permit and transfer it to Reading Girls Lacrosse. In addition, J. Feudo says that other organizations have mentioned an interest in applying for another Sunday Morning permit. The committee has a long discussion on the effect on neighbors, blue laws, and what is currently outlined in the policy. F. Driscoll suggests letting J. Feudo make the decision. K. Kaminer asks J. Feudo his opinion. J. Feudo says he has no clear idea but knows this date is sneaking up and will need a committee decision. E. Sisson makes a motion that we do not allow the transfer of Sunday morning special permits. F. Driscoll seconds. The committee votes, 5 in favor 2 not in favor. N. Swain moves that we stand behind the policy and there will be no variances on additional Sunday morning play for the time being. F. Driscoll seconds. All committee members are in favor 7-0. J. Feudo says he will give them alternate options. G. Fiorente gives an update in Recreation. She mentions T-ball Season will begin this Saturday with 14 teams and 160+ kids. She says the season was postponed almost a week due to the rain. G. Fiorente gives an update on current programs like Pickleball which has over 40 players. She says that other Spring Programs will be kicking off within the next few weeks like Archery, Gymja Warrior, Hands-On Electronics, Wicked Cool Discovery Lab, Super Soccer Stars, and Tennis. G. Fiorente informs the committee of two upcoming special intergenerational events at the Senior Center, Candy Bar Bingo and Mother's Day Tea. She gives the committee an update on Summer Camp Staff. She has conducted 38 interviews for the 7 available positions. She also mentions that the Recreation Summer Camp has gone from 2 weeks sold-out to 5 weeks sold-out. J. Feudo mentions that the parking recommendations on Bancroft Ave. are being presented by Sargent Christine Amendola at the Board of Selectmen Meeting next Tuesday, April Igth if committee members are interested in going. J. Feudo gives a brief update on the Birch Meadow Master Plan and the lighting subcommittee meeting who went over cost at their last meeting at the end of March. A.Chase moves to accept the minutes from the March Meeting. F. Driscoll seconds. No discussion. All in favor 7-0. K Kaminer makes a motion to adjourn at 8:40pm. All in favor 7-0. Page 1 2
