Topics of Discussion:
Board of Health meeting came to order at 5:32 pm on February 24, 2016 In the Berger
Room of Reading Town Hall.
Minutes
Minutes of December 9, 2015 and January 20, 2016 were tabled.
Reading residents, John Costigan, Rebecca Liberman and Christine Hansen Introduced
themselves to the Board. Each expressed an interest In becoming associate members of the
board.
Monthly Reports
DILauro gave updates on complaints regarding trash and hoarding. He and the public health
nurse attended a meeting with a representative of Sanofi Pasteur regarding Flu vaccine for
2016 -2017. A new injection device is being offered for those ages 18 -64, Fluzone
Intradermai Quadravalent. This alternative will be offered as well as the standard shot and
the high -dose for seniors. Docktor Inquired if we still had vaccine and the possibility of
administering vaccinations next week during elections. Approval was received for a public
health column to appear monthly in the Reading Chronicle.
Mandarin Reading
Full Inspection was conducted on February 18, 2016. Critical violations noted for hot and
cold holding temperature controls, good hygienic practices and protection from cross
contamination. All violations were corrected during inspection. Overall much improvement
has been made; there is no need for consultant at this time.

Future Event
The first event is to be held on Thursday, March 20 at the Pleasant Street Center from 6 -8
p.m. Three participants have signed up so far. Discussion ensued on topics for future
events.
Rabld Animals
Shurland discussed a recent incident where a raccoon expired in her garage. The animal
was sent to the State Lab and tested positive for rabies. She explained the process she
went through and inquired if there is an established protocol. DiLauro will follow up to see if
a better protocol is available.
