Board of Health meeting came to order at 6:00 pm on March 25, 2015 in the Berger Room
of Reading Town Hall.
Acceptance of Minutes
Minutes of February 24, 2015 were presented. Meade made motion to approve, seconded
by Singer. Motion passed 3:0.
Violation - 44 Winslow Road
Erickson advised that the above licensee is appealing the $50 ticket to Woburn District
Court for violating the Keeping of Animals Regulation. Given the facts of the case, the
Board decided not to pursue the fine.
Letter to Stakeholders
A draft copy of a letter to be sent to participants of the strategic planning meeting thanking
them for their Input was given to board members. It will be reviewed and comments
submitted.
Health Director Update
Erickson advised that vaccine has been pre - ordered for the upcoming flu season. Based on
the number of those aged 65 and older from the past season, 400 doses of High -Dose
vaccine are reserved for that age group and 800 for the 18 to 64 age group. He attended
meetings regarding opiates and suicide prevention. Reorganization of the Mystic Valley
Medical Reserve Corps Is taking place beginning July 1, 2015. Drive- through inoculation
clinics was a topic of discussion at their meeting.
A number of communicable disease reports have been received. Without a public health
nurse, processing has been difficult with some having to be returned to the State for their
follow up. The Board expressed their desire to move forward to obtain the services of a
public health nurse and health director as soon as possible.
