Topics of Discussion:
DRAFT Shared Before Official Committee Approval
Introductions of new and returning members; brief discussion of committee priorities in the
coming year.
Group agreed that next two meetings will be in Oct., on the 1st and 29th.
Discussion of social media and press releases protocal. All HRAC press releases must go
through Matt Kraunelis, Administrative Services Director for the town. Social media policies
are still being discussed and shaped by Selectmen. Heather will work with Linda to revise
the HRAC web page within the current guidelines.
Committee discussed proposed press release inviting new members. Mark suggested
focusing on Reading only rather than mentioning surrounding communities. Press release
was revised to reflect this suggestion. Lynn moved that the Committee accept the press
release as amended. Lori seconded. Vote was 6 to 0 in favor of accepting the amended
press relase.
Linda used grant funds to pay for Town Fair on Sept. 13, 12 -5. Heather will help with set up that
morning. Lynn will make poster, with slogan: "HRAC: promoting diversity and inclusiveness to
make Reading a welcoming and vibrant community" and tape for hanging. Lynn will purchase
Dum Dum candy for table if Linda gets the "okay" for this. Linda will distribute sign up sheet for
members to ensure table is covered throughout the Fair. Lori will bring ADL handouts. Mark will
bring tent, table, and folding chairs.
Sign has been reserved for MLK event. Linda will reserve PAC. More specific planning will
happen at subsequent meeting.
Lori will talk to AWOD and Lynn will talk to GSA about having a representative come to HRAC
meetings on a regular basis. Next meeting on Oct. 1, Lori will lead a presentation on cultural
sharing.
Vote approval of minutes was 5 -0, with 1 abstension.
