V SI KEVIN D. BOHMILLER February 19, 2015 Director of Personnel Town of Reading 16 Lowell Street Reading, MA 01867 Dear Director: After many years in business and 21 years as a Naval Officer I look forward to discussing how I can contribute to the care and well -being of Veterans and their families in Reading as the Veterans' Services Officer. I recently completed 18 years as the Supply Chain Manager at a small firm in Waltham. Combining my business and customer service skills along with years providing support to military personnel, 1 believe I would be very successful in this rewarding position. During my active duty as a Supply Corps Officer, 1 served aboard the USS Mars (AFS -1). I completed two, six -month Western Pacific and Persian Gulf deployments in Support of Carrier Battle Group Operations. Additionally I served three years as a Department Head at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. Upon leaving active duty, 1 continued my service by joining the Reserves in 1990 to support Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. I was immediately assigned to support the families of 150 personnel deployed to Rota, Spain. At that time I learned to navigate the system to aid in employment, financial, medical and emotional needs of families left behind. During my 14 years in the Reserves, 1 also assisted returning sailors, helping them navigate the web of available services and benefits. Most recently, I've had the good fortune to volunteer at the Bedford VA Hospital assisting with recreational care of elderly service members. I consider myself one of the lucky ones, which has increased my passion to help those less fortunate and in need. I will carry this passion to The Veterans' Services Officer position. In an effort to increase my knowledge of Chapter 1 15, CMR 108 and Title 38, I attended the October 2014 DVS Annual Commonwealth Wide Training Session. I was very impressed with the professionalism of everyone involved, all working toward the common goal of serving our veterans. 1 welcome the opportunity to further discuss my skills and this important position. If you have any questions, please contact me at or by email at I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you very much for your consideration. Sincerely, Kevin Bohmiller i KEVIN D. (2015) (2015) <Thomas.Crowley @trincoll.edu> To: adrmhs <adrmhs @aol.com> Subject: Coach Mosc Date: Mon, May 4, 2015 5:45 pm Hi John, Thank you so much for including me in this email and I couldn't be happier to hear that Coach Mosc is going to be recognized. Unfortunately I am still at school and cannot make the meeting but I just wanted to take a moment and express my unwavering support for the proposal to include Coach's name in a renaming effort at Morton Field. Over the past 35 years I cannot imagine another person spending as much time on a baseball field as Coach Mosc has and as his "second home" I think that it is only right that the name of the field reflects that. Every Spring we, as Reading High Baseball players, were lucky enough to play and practice every day on the nicest field in the Middlesex league and we all know that doesn't happen by accident. It is a direct result of the dedication Coach has shown to both the school and the program without ever seeking the spotlight or receiving the credit that we as members of the program know he deserves. The only thing that dwarfs the amount of time Coach has put into the Reading Baseball Program is the enormous impact he has had on every player that has passed though. Every year the roster changes, the faces look a little bit younger, and the alumni website for statistics needs some updating but what it means to be a Reading High Baseball player is timeless. Coach Mosc instils a level of pride in every player who slips on that iconic white jersey that makes you realize there's something at work thats bigger than baseball. Of course I can remember him teaching me to stay back on the ball while I was batting or him imploring me to take the extra step and work my way though ground balls, after all those are the things than win baseball games. But when I think about Coach Mosc the moments that stand out are the ones that have nothing to do with baseball. It's the work ethic he instilled in me for the rest of my life with his constant reminders during field house days "Do you guys think Burlington is inside working today? Do you think Lexington has players staying late studying the mental game ?" It's the power point slide he would show at the beginning of the season listing what our priorities should be: 1. School 2. Family 3. Baseball. It's the way he taught me how to handle both success and defeat, the former by never being satisfied and the later by figuring out what went wrong and fixing it. It's the way that I can still pick up the phone any time I want and know that Coach Mosc will be other the other end excited to talk. I could go on and on because no matter how hard I try I'll never be able to quantify the impact Coach has had on my life. Being a Reading Baseball means something special and although some may argue the magic is contained in those beat up white jerseys that we all slip off at the end of our careers and pack away for next years team, what it really means is that Coach Mosc has touched your life. There really isn't enough we can do or say to thank Coach Mosc for the past 35 years but honoring him at the field we all spent countless afternoons laughing, learning, and having fun with him is a great start. At his precinct meeting Mr. Ryan asked fellow members what they thought of the letter, one member replied that he felt that " crap " like that should be not allowed and that only " important " " approved " information should be allowed. 1 do not consider speaking out for mine or your First Amendment rights "crap "in fact it is that very amendment that gives that person the right to express his feelings and I defend his right to say so. On May 25 Memorial Day Mr. Chairman you and other members of the Board will give speeches about the men and women that have served and defended this country, all of that will ring hollow if you do not curb the power of the Town Clerks office of "approval "or disapprove of what may or may not be placed on that table. On December 22, 1950 1 took an oath when I enlisted in the United States Air Force to defend this country from all enemies both foreign and domestic, I did not have to defend myself or this country from foreign enemies but I find myself having to do so against domestic enemies such as the Town Clerk, s office that seeks "approval "of the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution .
