Topics of Discussion:
Review and approve minutes of recent meeting. The committee voted to
approve minutes of the 03/11/2015 meeting as written by Joan Boegel.
• Earth Day - April 25th event at RMLD.
o Laurie Ann reviewed the list of invited and confirmed participants. Confirmed
displays include four cars, two solar PV, one heat pump, one solar thermal,
one geothermal, and one electric vehicle charging station. RMLD will have
two tables. Laurie Ann is still looking for a biomass stove vendor and Mike is
pursuing IBEW local 103 small wind power. Ron volunteered to contact a
biofuel dealer. We may also try to get a residential combined heat & power
(CHP) vendor - Climate Energy was the company that attended an Earth Day
event several years ago with this technology. If we don't have enough
participants to fill all space, the Committee could have its own table, perhaps
promoting the tree planting program.
o Publicity is on- going. Ron reported that the announcement was published in
St. Agnes and St. Athanasius church bulletins. He also put it on RCTV and
obtained assistance of Laura Gemme, Town Clerk, who send out an email.
Flyers have been posted at many locations in town. Laurie Ann asked Priscilla
Gottwald to send notice in RMLD bills. Gina sent the flyer to RMHS teachers
and chemistry teacher Jennifer Thomas will give her students extra credit for
attending.
o Committee member volunteered to bring refreshments for Earth Day table
participants.
• Joan - juice
• Gina - apples
• Ron - bagels and cream cheese, Box of Joe, cream and sugar

■ Laurie Ann - granola bars
Note: Gina suggested that participants be asked to bring their own mug for
coffee, rather than supply disposable cups.
• Adopt -an- Island. The Garden Club Adopt -an- Island program kick -off is scheduled
for Thursday, April 9, at 7 p.m. in the Reading Senior Center.
Business Recycle Bin
o A Development Review Team (DRT) meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, 3/26,
at 3 p.m. Ron will attend and is trying to get JRM representative to be there.
He sent the final letter and project narrative to Jean Delios (Town Planner).
The next step will be to go back to CPDC on April 6.
Community Shared Solar
o Mike, Gina and Joan met with Tom 011ila (RMLD) at RMLD on 3/16/2015 and
had a good discussion of the vision for Community Shared Solar in Reading,
including the idea of solar canopy over parking lots (e.g., at train station) if a
suitable building roof is not identified. There will be a future meeting with
Jessie Wilson in Town Planning department.
The meeting adjourned at 9 p.m.
