Topics of Discussion:
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm in the Arts and Crafts Room of the Pleasant
Street Senior Center by Donna Schenkel. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
Donna reported that Jacqueline is no longer eligible to be a member of the council because
she no longer resides in Reading. Therefore, we have two open positions. Donna further
reported that just today she received an email and resume from a woman who is interested
in joining the council. Donna invited her to attend this meeting and explained what to do to
become a member.
Cate reported she had no treasurer's report because she hasn't received anything more
from the Town. She then presented the information from the Voting Meeting Calculating
Worksheet to help us derive the exact amount that will be available to award in grants. The
total was $5555.08, leaving $285 (5% of FY15 grant from the State, as approved at last
meeting) for administrative costs.
Discussion about the grant proposals ensued. There were 13 applications. Three were
disqualified as follows:
15 -01 Event does not take place in Reading
15 -05 No endorsement from RMHS that the event would take place; no date.
15 -06 No venue, date.
Another application (15 -10) was felt to be lacking a definite schedule and alternate sources
of funding. The consensus was to encourage the group to reapply for next year with more
detailed schedule, budget and additional sources of funding.
The rest of the applications were considered and the available monies were awarded after
discussion and input from all members. A motion was made to approve the following
awards with all members present:

Total $5555
Rejection letters will be sent this week and will include the reconsideration process
instructions. Acceptance letters will be sent no sooner than 15 days after rejection letters,
but before the end of the year.
Donna and Nancy will work on the annual report.
Meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm.
