Topics of Discussion:
Review and approve minutes of recent meeting. The committee voted to
approve minutes of the 02/18/2015 meeting as written by Joan Boegel with one
revision by Laurie Ann Sylvia.
• Letter to Churches. The committee discussed a letter written by Ron and edited by
Gina, offering to give a presentation titled "A Primer on Climate Change and Good
Stewardship" to churches in Reading. The committee voted to support sending this
letter to pastors and following up with the presentation for any churches that accept
the offer.
• Council on Aging / Energy Efficiency financing for low income seniors. Gina
reported that she contacted Jane Burns (Town of Reading) regarding the Council on
Aging. Gina will write up a proposal for Jane's review. Gina also communicated with
Betsy Schneider to ask whether Reading Cares might help. Betsy suggested
contacting the Congregational Church.
• Earth Day — April 25th event at RMLD.
• Laurie Ann reviewed the list of invited and confirmed participants. She will
email all to remind and verify their commitment to attend.
• Mike Scola volunteered to contact another wood /pellet stove store and a wind
power organization.
• The committee discussed strategy for publicizing the event. Laurie Ann
provided paper copies of flyers and will email the file to committee members.
All are encouraged to post the flyer at local businesses and public facilities
and to inform Laurie of locations posted. Gina will send the flyer to RMHS
teachers. Joan will post on Climate Advisory Committee website. Ron will

submit the flyer to Reading Patch. Gina will put flyers on doors at RMHS field
house on election day, April 7. The committee will do a major article and
press release in the local newspapers.
Business Recycle Bin
o Jean Delios (Town Planner) brought the business recycling bin proposal to
CPDC at their Monday (3/9/15) evening meeting. She told Ron D'Addario that
CPDC had lots of questions and were not in favor of the bin in the parking lot.
The main issues were (1) the bin might be unsightly and (2) MF Charles Bldg
was required to provide recycling as part of their project. Ron asked for the
opportunity to go back to the CPDC, possibly on April 6, and also requested a
copy of the 3/9 meeting minutes. Ron would welcome help preparing a
presentation for that meeting.
• Presentation to Selectmen — April 14
o We are on agenda for April 14th meeting of Board of Selectmen. We will use
this brief time to advertise the Earth Day event, report on business recycling
bin, and solicit support for Community Shared Solar.
Community Shared Solar
o Mike, Gina and Joan will meet with Tom 011ila (RMLD) and report back at the
next committee meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
