Town Civil Engineer Arthur Markos presented the Washington Park Master Plan with two
options for renovations of courts. He mentioned the walkway would be stamped concrete
and the courts would be brand new. They will also need to relocate a water line to install
the new water fountain.
A long discussion ensued by the committee. The committee discussed the possibility of re-
orientating the basketball court to go north to south to have less impact on the neighboring
houses. It was also recommended to keep the court as close to the path as possible
without impacting the established trees.
J. Feudo mentioned that the timeline would be a public hearing in November and pending
approval, out to bid by the 15Y of the year with the hopes of breaking ground in March.
A. Chase made a motion to accept the Washington Park plan as noted as plan #2 with the

seconded the motion.

Town of Reading - Meeting Minutes
Administrators Report
Some may have heard about the proposed reorganization of the Town. As part of that
proposal Recreation as a human service, would be moving back under the Community
Services Department. As it has been explained, not much would be changing in terms of
day to day operation of the Recreation Division. The physical location of the Rec Division
will likely change but has yet to be determined. The proposal will go before Town Meeting
in November, if it is passed then the move would happen sometime around the new year.
J. Feudo mentioned that he and the town manager met with the town administrator in
Wakefield about the possibility of regionalization of Recreation. The conversations are
premature and surface by nature at this point. However, several members of the
Recreation committee with be meeting with members of the Wakefield Commission to
discuss concerns and possibilities.
G. Fiorente gave a programming update. She mentioned that signups were strong for many
programs. She mentioned she would be looking for some help with travel basketball
evaluations if anyone is interested. She also mentioned that the Halloween parade was
coming up and she would also love for some help with that as well. Finally she gave an
update regarding Travel Basketball. She mentioned that Reading is now in the MetroWest
League which will be able to accommodate both the multiple number of teams as well as the
level of play that matches Reading.
A. Chase made a motion to adjourn.
E. Hughes seconded the motion.
Motion passed in favor of adjournment by a vote of 6 -0 -0.
Meeting adjourned at 8:21 PM.
