Topics of Discussion:
• Review and approve minutes of recent meeting. The committee voted to approve
minutes of the 12/03/2014 meeting as written by Joan Boegel with minor revisions.
Adopt an Island. Ray emailed to follow up on the site visit to the island on High
Street (Sunday, December 7 at 1) resulted in findings that the island would need
some tree trimming and glossy buckthorn removal. Additional plantings could be
decided by the committee. Gina noted that there had been a bench and the
committee could put in another. Dave contacted Jane Fiore to verify that DPW will
deliver wood chips /mulch and then confirmed that the committee would adopt.
No action needed at this time with frozen ground, start up around April 2015.
• Reading Public Library project. No new information.
Business cardboard recycling. Ron surveyed nine businesses abutting the town
Parking Area behind Main St. All were positive to the idea, however, 2 felt that they
generated no cardboard waste to speak of; 2 surveys were kept to be completed
when managers get in; and 5 said they'd like to see it and would be willing to walk
across the lot to get to it. Of those 5, one indicated they would not want to see a
parking spot used. Ron will ask a few more along Haven Street, and draft a report
that Gina will help with and Laurie Ann will pull the results together after January 5th.
Aiming for short report to be ready by next meeting January 14th for approval for
chair to then provide to Town Manager. A tenth business, CVS, referred Ron to
"Corporate ". Gina offered to write to CVS corporate to ask what is done in Reading
and if they would participate.
• Vehicle eV charging stations. A company in Wilmington continues to work to get
one or more ChargePolnt stations installed, they intend to publicize when they are in.

RMLD is still looking for municipal options. Possibilities for charging stations at the
train parking were discussed.
Earth Day 2015. At RMLD on Saturday. April 11. 2015 (10AM to 2PM) confirmed
with General Manager and Energy Manager. Vendor discussion continued with
suggestions for Solar, Geothermal and Heat Pump. ChargePoint has a model demo
'station'they can set up, we'd like to have a couple of electric cars. Laurie Ann /RMLD
energy efficiency program will follow up on the offer from Nissan and Chevrolet for
public power day to see if they would come to Earth Day instead. Ron will contact
Tesla to see if there are any Tesla electrics in the area and if the company would
come or ask a local owner to contact Ron about coming. For next year, maybe try to
find out how many electric vehicles in our area via Registry records.
Energy Efficiency financing for low income seniors. No new information.
Book Group. A good conversation on "The 6`" Extinction" by Elizabeth Colbert was
hosted by Ron at the library on Dec. 9". Eight attendees and the reference librarian
attended. Ron is reading "Anthropocene" by Gala Vince and may set up a discussion
next year. He is also doing another class at Tufts In the spring.
