CPDC meeting on 6/23/14 at 8pm. In a letter written to the CPDC, the
comments to
issues presented were:
CPDC of
(1) Suggestion to remove the 5 parking spaces in front of the building

is generally obtrusive to the neighborhood.
(2) Objection to the loss of the large trees in front of the Library. This
was later mitigated somewhat with the projects provision to move
and not destroy the memorial trees planted on the grounds.
(3) The latest site plan shows a marked increase in paved areas; these
are also obtrusive to the neighborhood and detract from the overall
appearance and setting of the Library.
Another issue discussed, but not documented at this time, was the Type
of materials used for the exterior of the addition. The rendering showed
the same type of yellow brick on the addition as on the library itself. A
more contrasting material would be better so as to set the addition off
from the library to emphasize that it is an addition and not part of the
original structure.

the architects. The outdoor ramp would extend to the existing
doorway and an indoor ramp would be constructed to navigate the
5 steps inside the building.
(2) Discussed the three new options for the canopy over the ramp to
the front door. RHC endorsed a curved glass roof with low profile
uprights.
RHC also requested reusing granite steps instead of burying them
under the ramp. For many of these types of projects, the granite is
repurposed as curbing or benches.
