D'Addario Topics of Discussion: Agenda Item: Review and approve minutes of recent meetings. The minutes for May 14, 2014 were approved with minor edits. RMLD LED Light Project Grant: Laurie Ann related that the RMLD has a LED street light grant pending with an answer at the end of June 2014. Recycle Bins at Town Parkins Lots: Jean Delios, town planner, e- mailed loan suggesting that Ron D'Addario should try again to gain bin space with Mr. Mawn, president of Northern Bank at the M.F. Charles properties. Ron will write a draft letter and send It to Joan for review. We will resurrect our efforts to Install a recycle bin in the M.F. Charles parking lot. Friends and Family Day on Saturday. June 14th: Dave submitted a print -out for the voluntary Opt In program in Reading which uses reverse 911 calls to warn residents of impending dilemmas. The committee discussed using the Opt in program for residents to alert them to lower their electrical demand to help reduce critical peak electrical loads. Michele added that commercial electrical accounts are offered incentives to reduce their electrical demand during peak load situations by Enemoc through ISO. Basically businesses get a credit for reducing their load at peak times. She said that it is the commercial companies that use the bulk of the load. Page 1 1 Town of Reading - Meeting Minutes Ron provided 12 questions for our emergency preparedness quiz for visitors to our display. He will also bring Hershey kisses for prizes. Laurie Ann agreed to print out a copy of the test in enlarged font which we could display for visitors to easily read. David contributed 50 LED flashlights for give away, courtesy of Covanta. The committee discussed the need for two kits: one for the home and the second for evacuation scenarios. We also discussed devising a game for youngsters. They would need to decide which items would be best suited for inclusion into our emergency kit: an electric can opener or a hand unit? Members felt confident that we were prepared for the event.
